How WatchMySpend handles your data: local-only by default, optional Pro cloud backup, and Plaid bank sync.

Storage model

• Free: manual purchases, CSV archives, budgets, and settings stay in this browser only — local-only.
• A free account (email or Google) is required; Free does not upload your spending ledger.
• Pro (default): same local-only ledger in your browser — cloud backup is off until you enable it in Account.
• Pro (cloud sync on): encrypted backup of ledger/settings on our servers, plus Plaid access tokens for bank links.
• Pro notifications store preferences on your account (email delivery is optional/provider-based).
• PDF and Excel exports are built here, then saved to Downloads.
• Clearing this site’s browser data deletes your local library (Pro cloud backup remains until you delete the account).

Analytics

We do not ship advertising or third-party analytics SDKs that phone home with your spending. We do not run a credit marketplace or partner/affiliate offers. Search Console (server-side) may be used to improve discoverability without reading your ledger.
